Thomas Edward Hill

1908-1940

Mr Thomas Edward HILL was born in 1908 in the United Kingdom. He is married   and father of three children in 1940.

Following the declaration of the war with Germany, the United Kingdom sends troops to protect the wearing of France.

Mr HILL is a gunner in Royal Artillery.

Monday 25 Mars 1940 around 22 hours, Mr HILL misled by the darkness falls into the Old Basin. At once alerted by the cries, from the fishermen go down in a boat to seize it and brought back on the quay.

After energetic care lavished on embedded during more than two hours, soldier HILL was to succumb. Funerals proceed Wednesday 27 Mars. The coffin placed on a truck and covered with combined flags, is followed many soldiers out of weapons, hospital with the cemetery Saint Léonard.

Mr HILL is the first allied soldier fallen on   the ground Honfleurais.
