A new association is born "Honfleur 1939-1945"

 

An association under state supervision by law 1901, having as title "Honfleur 1939-1945", has been created by Laurent GUADEBOIS , François RABIN and Christian GUADEBOIS assisted by Henri MARCHAND .

This association aim to serve the relay between the generations who have lived this troubled period of our history, and those of today and tomorrow whilst developing at the same time the history of the town of Honfleur.

Its object is to collect information, articles and other documents in order to participate in commemoration manifestations and to organise exhibitions and to wrote a book which will endeavour to be as close as possible to the maximun of reality.

This book retracing the live of the Honfleurais  during this period will be exclusively directed by the association. Its publishing  and distribution will have rights appropriate to the association.

The trading gains of this work or of any other revenue will serve to prepare exhibitions and to decorate with flowers the monument rendering homage to the allied soldiers who died for our freedom on the 8th and the 25th August.

The head office is at the town-hall of Honfleur .

The active members will be admitted after cooptation by two member of the office.

After acceptance of their application for inscription, the candidates will then be declared active members after payment of an annual subscription of 50 F revised every year.

These members have a right to vote at the general meeting and may submit written questions on problems relating to the framework of the "Association" at least a fortnight prior to the general meeting.

The benefactor members concern moral and physical persons who give financial support to the "Association".

They may by invitation attend the general meeting without having therefore the right to votes and decisions.

Upon request these members will receive a benefactor membership card together with a receipt to testify their generosity.

 

Honorary members: their statutes is a title awarded to persons who rendered important services to the association. Upon request, they will receive an honorary membership card and are exempted of any contribution and may attend general meetings with an advisory say.

They are admitted to participate regularly in relief activities of board of directors.

 

Honorary members: are considered honorary members all physical persons who has participated in events justifying the creation of this association, i.e the armed forces of the allied troops who liberated the town of Honfleur, the resistants, civilian and military victims.

This honorary title may also be awarded to a member of their descendants.

As a favour these members profit of a live membership card. They will be designated by members of the board of directors and registered in the golden book of the association.

Every year the board of directors will designate an honorary president with a possible reconduction.

The association is led by a council of members elected for three years and renawable every year by a third party.

The outgoing members are reeligible . Election takes place asbsolute majority or relative majority if a second round is necessery.

The president insures the regularity of the functioning of the association, directs the debates and represents the association in every act of civilian life and must keep the golden book of the honorary members up to date.

The vice president seconds the president and replaces him in case of inconvenience.

The treasurer manages the returns and effects payments after visa of the president. He keeps the accountancy books.

The secretary is in charge of the summons, the drafting of minutes, and the correspondence.

The board of directors meet a least once a year.

A"traction" hes been chosen for the logo of the asociation.
