The 6th AIRBORNE DIVISION
The 6th Airborne Division was formed in 1943 and consisted of a number of Parachute Battalions also glider bone troops consisting of 3 Batt's of infantry known as the 6th Air Landing Brigade, 12th Batt Devons, 2nd Batt O& Bucks Light Infantry, 1st Batt Royal Ulster Rifles plus Hamilcar Gilders wich could carry a Tetrarch Tank or two Bren Carries or 40 troops and could be adapted to carry a variety of heavy weapons towed behind four engined bombers.
The division served in Normandy from 6th June 1944 to September 1944, the Ardennes from 24th December 1944 till February 1945, then crossed the Rhine March 25th 1945, randing Hamminkelm and finished the war in Wismar meeting the Russians then back home to prepare for the far East but the dropping of the Atom Bombs.
