The 6th AIRBORNE DIVISION

The 6^th Airborne Division was formed in 1943 and consisted of a number of Parachute Battalions also glider bone troops consisting of 3 Batt's of infantry known as the 6^th Air Landing Brigade, 12^th Batt Devons, 2^nd Batt O& Bucks  Light Infantry, 1^st Batt Royal Ulster Rifles plus Hamilcar Gilders wich could carry a Tetrarch Tank or two Bren Carries or 40 troops and could be adapted to carry a variety of heavy weapons towed behind four engined bombers.

The division served in Normandy from 6^th June 1944 to September 1944, the Ardennes from 24^th December 1944 till February 1945, then crossed the Rhine March 25^th 1945, randing Hamminkelm and finished the war in Wismar meeting the Russians then back home to prepare for the far East but the dropping of the Atom Bombs.
